The Adel Public Library is about to kick off a program that will help improve children’s reading skills with the help of some furry friends.

The library has partnered with the Animal Rescue League’s Therapets program for a series they’re calling “Tales to Tails.” Participants will practice reading aloud to a therapy dog, which will help train the dog while developing their own reading proficiency. Kids in 1st through 5th grade can sign up at the library’s front desk for a 15-minute time slot. Space is limited, and there is no cost to participate. The first “Tales to Tails” program will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 11 a.m.
