A trip to Webster City Friday night didn’t prove successful for the Perry varsity football team, as they were unable to notch their first win of the season and left with a 42-14 loss to the Lynx.

The game started fast for both teams, as there were touchdowns scored on each of the first three drives. For Webster City it was an opening drive score from 2-yards out by quarterback Dylan Steen. Perry would answer three plays later with a 71-yard catch and run from Kaleb Olejniczak to Justin Stammer for a touchdown. On the next drive, the Lynx would take it into the endzone once again on a 29-yard run by Drake Doolittle. At the end of the first quarter, Webster City led 14-7. On the second play of the second quarter, the Lynx would once again score, this time on a 40-yard touchdown run by Steen. Perry would get on the board once again later in the second thanks to a 62-yard touchdown run by Stammer. However, on the subsequent drive, Steen would get his third touchdown of the game on a one-yard run. Perry entered halftime trailing 28-14.

Things only got worse for the Blue Jays in the second half, as they would allow a 9-yard touchdown run to Trace Kepler in the third quarter, and Steen scored his fourth and final touchdown of the game from 5-yards out. Perry wouldn’t score any more points in the contest, and the game ended with a score of 42-14. With the loss, the Blue Jays remain winless on the season, with a record of 0-6. Next week they travel to Carroll for a district matchup versus the Tigers. Make sure to listen to AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS starting at 7 p.m. Friday night for live play-by-play coverage of the game.
