Homecoming Week for Greene County and Paton-Churdan is winding down, but there’s still lots happening tomorrow and Saturday.

Festivities for Friday includes a student pep rally at the high school football field at 1pm, followed by the parade at 2pm, which will feature Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio. The coronation ceremony will then take place right after the parade on the bell tower plaza of the Greene County Courthouse. Student Council Advisor Deb Marquardt says in case of rain, the pep rally will be moved into the auditorium and the parade will be cancelled. The coronation ceremony will also take place in the auditorium at 2pm.

There’s been a change to the start time of the home varsity football game against Atlantic. The game will kick-off at 5pm. You can hear the game on KGRA 98.9FM or streamed live on our website at raccoonvalleyradio.com. Pre-game coverage begins at 4:30pm. Greene County Student Council President Melanie Doran says school spirit is at an all-time high with the success that the football team is having this year. “This year we have a lot more confidence and the boys feel a lot better about it, and we have better participation at the games. The student section has gotten bigger. You can see that the crowd has filled out more in the stands. So it just makes it all more exciting and hopefully it will all go well.”

Homecoming Week will then wrap up Saturday with the high school dance at the Jefferson Elks Lodge with a $5 per student admission charge.
