Friday, October 5th
2:55am: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Reed Street and North Vine Street. As a result of the traffic stop Grason Trever Lansman was issued a Citation for Driving while Suspended, Revoked, Canceled or Denied.
9:17am: Doyle Haglund spoke with an Officer in reference to an ongoing civil property dispute. Doyle was advised to speak with a private attorney
11:16am: An anonymous female spoke with an Officer reference the ongoing construction in Jefferson interfering with the flow of traffic. The Officer was unable to assist with these issues
11:40am: Venessa Cayler reported a middle aged male on a bicycle had stopped in front of her vehicle near the intersection of Clark Street / Vine Street. The male demanded a ride out of Jefferson. The Officer later located the male. He advised he mistook the driver for someone else and would not be an issue again.
12:12pm: An Officer heard loud yelling / cursing coming from 104 East Monroe Street. The Officer followed the sound and spoke with the source, identified as Steven Dzuris. Steven had been warned for this behavior approximately 45 minutes earlier by a separate Officer. The result of the investigation led to the arrest of Steven Logan Dzuris for Disorderly Conduct.
3:26pm: Irene Mischke reported a phone scam by text message. The message stated she had won $500,000,000 in gift cards. She was advised to spend $100 before receiving the money. This was recognized as a scam and no loss was incurred.
3:33pm: Susan Mills reported vandalism to a vehicle while parked at 100 Ram Drive. The Officer is investigating.
4:28pm: Nicki Studyvin reported her vehicle had been struck by another vehicle while parked in the Casey’s parking lot, 508 North Elm Street. Unit 1, a black 2008 Ford Edge bearing Iowa Registration BTV 316. Unit 1 was operated by Nicki Studyvin and had been legally parked facing west in the Casey’s parking lot. Unit 1 sustained approx. $500 in damage to the center of the rear bumper. Nicki advised a vehicle had struck her vehicle and before turning north on North Elm Street. Nicki was able to photograph the registration plate of the vehicle she suspected of striking her. The vehicle suspected to be Unit 2 was a tan Chevrolet Equinox bearing Iowa Registration AIH 001. Unit 2 was registered to Calvin and Erma Juergensen of 901 Bell Street, Churdan, Iowa. It was unclear at the time who was operating Unit 2 as it did not stop after striking Unit 1 and it was also unclear of the extent of damage if any to Unit 2. The Officer is investigating to determine the driver of Unit 2
5:47pm: An Officer was advised of a residential Alarm in the 700 block of West Harrison Street. The Officer spoke with the homeowner who advised the alarm was accidental.
7:27pm: An Officer was dispatched to the intersection of Elm Street and Lincolnway for a report of a green passenger car northbound on Elm knocking over the orange construction cones. They did not locate the vehicle and found one cone knocked over.
8:52pm: Alise Palmer reported her vehicle was stuck in a ditch near the intersection of 237th / Linwood Ave. The Officer observed a gray 1993 Ford Crown Victoria, IA license plate #GNM407 partially in the west ditch of Linwood Ave, just north of the intersection. Alise advised she does not usually drive at night and caught turned around when she turned off of 237th St. and onto Linwood Ave. Alise attempted to turn around on Linwood, but caught her front passenger tire stuck in the ditch and bottomed out the vehicle. The Officer observed no damage to the vehicle. During the investigation Alise Palmer was cited for Driving While License Under Suspension and Failure to Possess Financial Liability.
9:46pm: While conducting business checks an Officer located two open doors at 600 East Lincolnway. The officer secured both doors and departed.
Saturday, October 6th
12:36am: An Officer assisted Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 1100 block of McDuffie Drive.
2:43am: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lincolnway and State Street. As a result of this traffic stop Ciera Denise Scott was issued a Citation for Fail to Obey Stop or Yield Sign.
8:17am: Hastings Funeral Home requested assistance with a funeral escort to the Jefferson City Cemetery. The Officer completed the escort.
8:24am: Adam Coyne reported a construction barrel in the roadway near the intersection of North Elm / West Central Street. The Officer moved the barrel off the traveled portion of the road.
9:58am: An Anonymous caller advised of a male driver in a white passenger car who appeared to be falling asleep. The vehicle was last seen near the intersection of Lincolnway / Elm Street. The Officer did not locate the vehicle.
10:12am: Roger Nielson reported he had caught a raccoon in a privately owned live trap. He was advised the Jefferson Police Department did no assist with calls of this nature.
2:12pm: Steve Hack requested an Officer assist with the service of a three day eviction notice. Steve was advised this is not a service we provide.
3:05pm: An Officer was dispatched to 403 North Cedar Street for an abandoned 911 call. It was determined a child had been playing with the phone and no assistance was needed.
5:09pm: An Officer assisted Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 300 block of North Cedar Street.
5:31pm: Joyce Morris reported a phone scam. The caller stated they worked with Walmart and she had won $35 gift card. They asked for personal information. This was not provided.
6:19pm: An Officer was dispatched to the Wild Rose Casino, 777 Wild Rose Lane for a report of a burglary to one of the patrons vehicles while in the parking lot. Joseph McGuire reported his vehicle had been entered while in the parking lot and a checkbook taken. The Officer investigated and a suspect was found. As a result of the investigation a warrant was issued for Anthony Charles Lange of Ankeny for Burglary in the 3rd Degree – Motor Vehicle.
6:25pm: Jordan Davis reported the stoplight was malfunctioning at the intersection Russell Street and Elm Street.
8:09pm: Dan Scheuermann reported his adult son had been bitten by a neighbor’s dog. The Officer is investigating.
9:31pm: An Officer conducted a traffic stop in 1200 block of East Lincolnway. As a result of this traffic stop, Jeremy Hamilton of Scranton was placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence – 1st Offense, Hamilton was also issued citations for Speeding – 6 thru 10 over / Fail to Display Registration Plate.
11:20pm: Shawn Olson reported an erratic driver on 220th Street near the intersection with R Ave. It was reported the black SUV was swerving onto the shoulder while speeding up and slowing down. An Officer located the vehicle on 220th Street just West of the intersection with Elm Street. The Officer preformed a Traffic Stop and identified the driver as Judy Richardson. As a result of the investigation Judy Ann Richardson of West Des Moines was arrested for Operating While under the Influence – 2nd Offense. Richardson was also issued a citation for Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.
Sunday, October 7th
1:16am: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lincolnway / State Street. As a result of this traffic stop, Blaik Charles Woellhof was issued a Citation for Fail to Obey Stop or Yield Sign.
4:09am: Steven Dzuris reported someone pounding on the west side of his residence from the outside. The Officer checked the area and found no one.
12:36pm: Roslyn Griffin reported her minor grandson had stayed with a friend overnight but had no yet returned home. The Officer investigated and found the child was being given a ride back home and was safe. The child returned home shortly after.
2:08pm: An Officer observed a damaged street sign near the intersection of West Lincolnway and Lincoln Court. It appeared the sign had been struck by a vehicle. The Officer advised the City Street Department of the damage.
5:11pm: Scott Carroll reported a civil property dispute between himself and adult daughter reference a vehicle. The Officer spoke to both and the vehicle was returned to the rightful owner.
6:33pm: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 220th Street / Flack Ave. As a result of this traffic stop Timothy Michael Vandelune was issued a citation for Dark Window / Windshield.
7:28pm: An Officer was requested to check on the welfare of a male in the 100 block of East Monroe Street. The Officer made contact and no assistance was needed.
7:40pm: An Officer assisted Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 800 block of West Adams Street.
7:45pm: Casey’s General Store, 508 North Elm Street, reported a possible theft of fuel in the amount of $10. An Officer investigated and located the vehicle’s driver. Arrangements were made to pay Casey’s for the fuel later in the day.
11:51pm: While conducting business checks an Officer located an open door at 1200 North Elm Street. The Officer secured the door and left the property.
******* As a result of an investigation started on September 18th, 2018, Warrants were requested for the arrest of Michelle Marie Fritch of Nevada for Theft in the 4th Degree and Brent Eugene Leon Allen of Ames for Theft in the 4th Degree
******* As a result of an investigation started August 24 th, 2018, Warrants were requested for the arrest of Rodney Dean Halterman of Jefferson for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, Theft in the 4th Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Monday, October 8th
8:22am: Amelia Kennedy requested assistance from officers with her juvenile son, who ran away from the Elementary School. The officers located the boy in a tree and coaxed him down. He was transported to ER for a Medical Evaluation by a medical doctor.
8:46am: An officer picked up a reported Abandoned Bicycle from 307 East Gallop Road. The bike was placed in Impound. The owner later claimed the bike and it was released to him.
12:32pm: Sparky’s One Stop requested an officer at 606 Hwy. 30 East for a transient male, who had been at the business for 3 days. The officer spoke with the male and advised him the business wanted him to move on. He left on his own.
12:50pm: The Greene County Middle School requested officers at 203 West Harrison Street for two unruly students. The officer assisted in gaining compliance with the two boys until parents arrived at the school.
4:37pm: Cory McIntyre spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Money Issue. He was advised to seek an attorney.
