The Stuart City Council met Monday evening in regular session.
Resident Doug Jirak presented concerns about maintaining gravel roads on the north side of town which the council took action to consult the county engineer on a possible work agreement. The council later approved the final plat of phase two of the Wambold Housing Development and approved the Fiscal Year 2018 financial report. Stuart Economic Development Director Kristen Renslow informed the council of two applications to the Adair County Foundation, residential tax abatement applications that will be posted on the city’s website, and a discussion on child care needs to be held on October 16th at city hall.
Per the Stuart Chamber’s recommendation, the council set this year’s date for beggars night on Tuesday October 30th. The council then approved a health insurance contribution rate increase of $55.68 per month for city and utility employees. Reasons cited for the rate hike are increased medical and prescription drug costs nationwide.
