Fall Colors

You may have noticed the trees are turning from green to vibrant fall colors before they go dormant for the winter.

The latest report from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources shows that here in Greene County Ash, Sumac and Dogwood trees are at their peak for turning colors. Oak trees have just started to turn, while wood vines are at their peak. Some of the other kinds of trees like Walnuts, Elms, Green Ash and Locust have more of a yellow-tint to them at this time. Several Maple trees are also starting to turn orange and red.

The DNR anticipates another two weeks of peak viewing times for Greene County to see the full potential of autumn colors on trees. To see the full report, click the link below.
