Guthrie County Courthouse Fall

Voters in Guthrie County will see a major change in the voting process when they head to the polls November 6th.

The county is now implementing electronic poll, or e-poll, books at all of its precincts for the general election. Instead of poll workers having to thumb through a paper book to find your voter registry information, all they’ll have to do is scan your ID to find your records, which can avoid data entry errors.

Guthrie County Deputy Auditor Dani Fink shares how this new system will benefit voters, “I feel it’s really going to help cut down on any lines, again not every precinct we don’t have issues with lines because they’re not very large, but with some of our larger precincts we do really struggle with people having to wait. Each precinct will have two of these e-poll books, each are their own masters so if for some reason one would go down or wasn’t quite working right, we have one that’s going to be working.”

Fink adds that e-poll books contain information such as a registered voter’s correct polling place so voters can be directed to the right location. It also notifies poll workers if someone already voted absentee or during the early voting period. Voters can pre-register to vote or request an absentee ballot at the auditor’s office.
