Two longtime Guthrie County rivals close the 2018 high school football season tonight squaring off against one another in Stuart. The West Central Valley Wildcats entertain the Panorama Panthers for a Class 1A District 8 showdown. The Wildcats and Panthers are looking to end the season on a high note as neither will be one of the 16 teams vying for a state championship starting next week. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with both head football coaches on this week’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page to promote tonight’s season finale. West Central Valley head coach Eric Addy expects tonight’s game to be a high scoring affair. “Hopefully it’s just high scoring for us but I assume (it’ll be) a high scoring game (for both teams),” Addy said, “Maybe one of the (highest) scoring games that you’ll ever see. We can both hit home runs (plays) on offense on any play. ”

A victory for Panorama secures a winning record under first-year head coach Mike Kauzlarich. Kauzlarich says last year’s 26-14 setback to the Wildcats is still fresh in his player’s minds. “(West Central Valley) took it to us last year and our guys remember that,” Kauzlarich said, “We’re still hungry and want a little bit of redemption in the rivalry game.”

Guthrie County bragging rights are on the line as the West Central Valley Wildcats play host to the Panorama Panthers. The varsity game kicks off around 7 p.m. from Stuart.
