Even though the holidays may be a little ways off, planning is ongoing for one upcoming event in Jefferson.

Jefferson Matters: Main Street, Greene County Chamber and Tourism and Thomas Jefferson Gardens are partnering together this year for the Community Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The lighting of the Christmas tree will take place on December 6th. However, any homeowner, business or church that has a holiday-themed display and wants to show it off to the public can be added to an outdoor holiday lights map. Those interested can contact the Chamber office at 386-2155 to learn more or to be added.

There are no prizes, but organizers say it’s fun way to spread holiday cheer to community members. Anyone who wants to be added to the map, must contact the Chamber by November 16th.
