The certified enrollment numbers have been released for Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Districts.
Greene County’s certified enrollment is down 29.47 students for the 2018-19 school year. The number of students in the district is 1,209.43, compared to 1,238.90 last year. Factors that go into the final figure include homeschool assistance and dual-enrolled students. As for those students that attend the school district, there are 1,103.80 students, compared to 1,1,26.80, which is a 23 student drop. Those students who open enrolled out dropped by 6.80 students and those who open enrolled into the district decreased by two students. Superintendent Tim Christensen clarifies how the certified enrollment report is determined.
“Certified enrollment is the students that reside in your school district, no matter where they attend school. So that’s one misnomer, that open enrollment has no impact on what certified enrollment is because it’s about the students that reside in your district.”
Christensen adds that the certified enrollment is counted on October 1st and is directly tied to the state’s per pupil funding of $6,600 per student.
As for Paton-Churdan, their certified enrollment report showed a 3.4 student increase for the 2018-19 school year. There are 211.70 students that reside in the district, compared to 208.30 last year. As for those students attending P-C, there was a 9.10 student increase as well, from 155 last year to 164.10 this year. Those students who open enrolled out dropped by 5.7 students, and those who open enrolled in went up by nine.
