The Adel City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.
The meeting began with five public hearings, each of which dealt with the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost for an upcoming City water or sewer project. No one from the public spoke during the hearings, so resolutions related to each topic were approved during new business. There were five total resolutions related to the $16 million in water revenue capital loan notes for water projects that were approved, as well as four resolutions for the $6 million for sewer projects.
Also in new business, the Council approved the construction contract and bond for the 2018 street resurfacing project with Des Moines Asphalt for $466,998.10. The project had been awarded to the contractor at the previous meeting in October, and with the contract and bond set it should begin in the near future. The Council then approved a legal services agreement with Ahlers and Cooney for the new wastewater treatment plant project, as required by the United States Department of Agriculture. Finally, the Council approved a resolution to authorize City Administrator Anthony Brown to institute emergency proceedings for the project to repair the City Hall roof.
