Two sophomore members of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity cross country team credit one another for their success during the 2018 season. Nate Mueller and Ethan Jurgens will make their second straight trip to the Iowa State Cross Country Meet in Fort Dodge after top-five personal performances in last Thursday’s Class 3A State Qualifying race in Glenwood. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with the two ADM underclassmen after placing one-two in the Raccoon River Conference Meet in Adel on October 11. Mueller says it feels good having a teammate like Jurgens challenging him. “We push each other to get better each time,” Mueller said, “I’m excited right now. It’s fun running with him.”

Jurgens equaled Mueller’s exciting. “It’s really fun having someone to run with and to compete against,” Mueller said, “It pushes us to do better, and we can grow in our friendship and on the cross country course at the same time.”

Fellow sophomore Hannah Welch is also going to Fort Dodge Saturday as a first-time qualifier in the Class 3A girls race. The Class 3A State Girls Cross Country Meet starts around 12 p.m., and the boys’ competition takes place at 12:30 p.m. from the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
