The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The meeting began with updates from Public Health and Environmental Health Director Jotham Arber. Public Health has administered 326 flu shots, which is up from an average of 150 for this time of year. Arber hopes to have 45% of county residents vaccinated by November, and 90% by December. Arber also shared he is in talks with Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf to have a weather-related emergency preparedness drill.

The Board then approved to abate $218 in delinquent property taxes for a property at 103 Grand Street in Guthrie Center. County Weed Commissioner Steve Stringham gave his annual report, in which he said overall weed conditions have improved. County Engineer Josh Sebern then gave a secondary roads update and the Board approved a new employee payroll notice for Jason Carroll as presented.

Next, the Board discussed the potential purchase of a new skid loader and equipment training and certification with County Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson, Star Equipment representatives and Arber. It was proposed that Thompson be certified to train other transfer station employees on how to use the skid loader, following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Arber and Thompson will bring proposals for training and equipment purchase timelines to the Supervisors in November. The meeting concluded with the Board approving a fireworks permit for Guthrie Center resident Rich Boals.
