A reminder that tomorrow there will be tons of free Halloween-themed entertainment and candy to be had in Jefferson.

The festivities begin at the Greene County Community Center from 4 to 5pm. Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says their Halloween Party is for kids two-years-old through fifth grade and she describes some of the games that her staff and the Greene County High School Interact Club help with.

“Some of the games that we’ve had in the past is like Ring Spider Toss. Of course we have to do the Pumpkin Toss, which we have five pumpkins lined up and they have to toss eyeballs into the pumpkins. We also have them searching for eyeballs in some ooey-gooey stuff, then we do have a little fishing place. And then we’ve got some new ones that we’re going to put out this year.”

From there, kids can head downtown for Trick-or-Treat Around the Square from 5 to 6pm. Greene County Chamber and Tourism Interim Director Michael Reese says there’s still time if your organization or business wants to be included.

“If you have a business, and you’re not already around the square, or you’re from another community (outside of Jefferson), and you want to participate, call the Chamber and we’ll find a space for you. Again this is a countywide event, so we want everybody to participate.”

Other activities includes a children’s skit and treats at the Jefferson Public Library from 5 to 7pm and a “Spooktacular” concert put on by the middle and high school band students at the middle school gym from 7 to 8pm. All activities are free and Halloween costumes are encouraged.
