A new season of Grand View Lady Vikings Women’s basketball opens this weekend in Des Moines and this year’s squad features multiple upperclassmen who graduated from Guthrie County. The Lady Vikings begin their season with two games this weekend at home against Missouri Baptist University on Saturday evening and Lyon College on Sunday afternoon. Tomorrow marks the beginning of the end for Stuart native Bailee Arnburg and Panora local Jessi Campbell. The pair of 2015 graduates competed against one another inside the West Central Activities Conference multiple seasons before becoming teammates and roommates at Grand View University their freshman season. Arnburg started all 34 games last winter as a junior, averaging 10.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per contest. Campbell appeared in 20 games in her third collegiate season, recording 3.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and one assist per game. The duo’s output helped the Lady Vikings’ win 23 games a season ago and earned a spot in the NAIA Division I tournament. Tomorrow’s game with Missouri Baptist tips off at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s contest versus Lyon College starts at 1 p.m. from Sisam Arena in Des Moines.
