A familiar face is the new program coordinator for Guthrie County Extension and Outreach.

Krista Downing has been promoted to program coordinator after working for about nine months as the office coordinator. Former program coordinator Mary Ebert has transitioned to part-time in order to stay home with her children.

Downing shares how she feels about the promotion, “I’m really excited about it. I’ve wanted to be in Extension since I was in high school, and to be able to be the program coordinator now is super exciting, to get to plan all the programs and interact with the community, so I’m pumped.”

Downing grew up on a farm near Panora and was active in 4-H and FFA. She graduated from Iowa State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Communications. Downing is passionate about being involved in the community with the Extension office and is looking forward to upcoming programs they are offering including Farmers’ Coffee. Guthrie County Extension is accepting applications for their office coordinator position until November 12th. For information on how to apply online visit raccoonvalleyradio.com.
