Friday, November 2nd
4:50am: The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from a Jefferson officer in locating a vehicle, possibly in Jefferson, with a suicidal subject. The officer did not locate the vehicle in town.
11:10am: Trayon Binkley spoke to an officer about an on-going harassment situation occurring with a family member.
2:44pm: An officer spoke to a male subject at 902 North Pinet Street about an Illegal Burning occurring there. The subject was advised that only yard waste can be burned in the future.
4:40pm: A Traffic Stop performed in the 300 Block of South Chestnut Street resulted in Maryssa Pierson of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
5:23pm: Tiffany Smith advised of a possible Impaired Driver on 220th Street, heading west into Jefferson. The officer located the reported driver and performed a Traffic Stop near Mulberry Street on 220th. The officer spoke to the subject and determined she was a Tired Driver and suggested a short rest before continuing on her way.
6:15pm: A caller reported her adult son left the residence on foot and was possible Suicidal. The officer located the male a short time later and returned him home. The officer spoke to the subject, who advised he was angry, notsuicidal.
9:33pm: A Traffic Stop performed at Elm and 220th Street resulted in Farshad Niayeshpour of Ames being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”
Saturday, November 3rd
1:24am: Officers were requested at 703 West State Street for a Domestic Situation between intoxicated family members. The officers worked to resolve the issues for the evening and departed.
9:01am: An officer covered a Backing Accident in the 100 Block of North Chestnut Street. Jay White was parked in an angled parking space on the east side of the 100 block of North Chestnut Street, facing to the northeast in his 2014 GMC Arcadia. Jack Orchard was in an angled parking space on the west side of the 100 block of North Chestnut Street, facing to the southwest in his 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. White began to back out of his parking space to begin traveling south on Chestnut Street. As White continued to back, his rear bumper struck the driver’s side bumper of Orchard’s vehicle, who was now in the roadway. White’s vehicle
suffered a reported $750.00 in damages to the rear. The Orchard vehicle suffered $750.00 in damages to the driver’s rear. White was cited for, “Unsafe Backing Upon a Highway.”
9:11am: Kaleb Lentz spoke with an officer about sores on his child he noticed after picking the child up for the weekend. The officer and DHS are investigating the report.
12:46pm: Dawn Richter reported a child placed his bike in a van with Colorado plates and left the area of the Greene County Middle School. She felt it seemed odd. The officer received no reports of a Missing Child.
5:22pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in a private drive at 109 Harding Road. Unit 1 was a blue 2002 Ford Taurus, owned and operated by Brinda Brown of 109 Harding Road. Unit 2 was a black 2016 Chevy Cruze, owned and operated by Joel Erritt of 802 West Adams Street. Both units were legally parked in the driveway of 109 Harding Road. Unit 1 began to back out of the driveway, turning the vehicle as it backed out to face east on Harding Road. As Unit 1 continued to back, the front driver’s side bumper side-swiped the passenger side of Unit 2. Both units had a reported $500.00 in damages.
9:32pm: A Traffic Stop performed at Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Daniel Richardson of Perry being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”
9:54pm: An officer performed a Traffic Stop with a speeding vehicle at High and Madison Streets. The officer’s radar had locked the driver on West Lincoln Way Street at 46 in the 35-mph zone. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Brad Byerly, 50 of Jefferson for, “OWI 2nd Offense – Aggravated, Excessive Speed – Simple, Operation without Registration – Simple, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple.”
Sunday, November 4th
2:18am: Alysha Dehoet reported an Unwanted Male at 402 West Russell Street. The officer spoke to the male, who left the area on his own free will.
2:25am: A Traffic Stop performed in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Joanna Schmidt of West Des Moines being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
7:52am: An officer responded to a Business Alarm Activation at 403 West Head Street. The business was secure.
8:09am: HyVee reported the Theft of merchandise from 106 West Washington Street, Suite 1. A male entered the business on October 31st , 2018, and left without paying for an ice cream machine, valued at $79.99. The officer is investigating the report.
10:57am: An officer arrested Connor Hornsby, 21 of Jefferson at 605 West State Street. Hornsby was wanted for a “Probation Violation” out of Dallas County.
2:03pm: Officers assisted EMS with a Medical Call n the 700 Block of North Cedar Street.
5:50pm: An officer assisted Kandice Agar with a Civil Property Exchange at 403 North Pinet Street.
