The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The meeting began with a discussion of buildings and grounds claims that were submitted to the Board by the county fair board a month ago. The Board had tabled action as they needed clarification on the receipts given. Spencer Sloss of the fair board said that their treasurer had submitted all the receipts to the County including items for which they weren’t asking for reimbursement. Sloss said he would bring a corrected copy of claims for the Board to approve reimbursement in the future.

Next, the Board discussed a request of abatement of a late payment penalty fee of $646 for property taxes from Capstone Group, Incorporated, which owns The New Homestead senior living community in Guthrie Center. Capstone is in litigation with the Guthrie County Board of Review on zoning classifications, and was advised by their attorney not to pay their property tax for September and then was redirected to pay after October 1st. The Board decided not to abate the penalty fee to see the outcome of the litigation, and directed Capstone to pay the $646 by November 16th.

Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern concluded the meeting with discussion of gravel quotes. The Board directed Sebern to return with a recommended quote at their next meeting.
