
A reminder: the Perry School District is hosting their 21st annual Veterans Day Celebration today.
Festivities begin at 8 a.m. this morning with refreshments for veterans in the high school’s Brady Library. At 9 a.m., the 30th annual Social Studies Department Veterans Day Panel Presentation will be held in the Performing Arts Center. It will be moderated by Gary Overla and John Fulton, and will feature several local veterans. The main event is at 10 a.m. in the PAC, and the public is encouraged to attend and show their support to the many veterans expected to be in attendance.
The celebration will be emceed by Mike Powell and will include several musical performances and presentations, as well as a keynote address from U.S. Congressman David Young. It will conclude with the playing of “Taps” and retiring of the colors. The Perry Veterans Day Celebration is organized by the Bluejay Congress, the Perry High School Social Studies, Music, and Student Activities departments, the Perry Historic Preservation Commission, and the local chapters of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
