This year, November 12-16 has been declared American Education Week, and the Perry School District is taking some time this week to thank their faculty and staff.
Superintendent Clark Wicks says having a week devoted to the public school system is a great way to emphasize what it does for the students and families in every community. “American Education Week highlights the importance of public education. The whole idea that we serve each kid, each kid matters, and we accept all kids. And that’s the whole essence of public education. And also (Perry) Mayor (John) Andorf sent me a note the other day, (saying) ‘This is a great opportunity to celebrate and recognize public education and those individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child and student receives a quality education.’ And that sums up American Education Week: quality education and student success.”
Wicks adds, the District won’t be having any formal programs to celebrate the week, but they will be going out of their way to thank each teacher and staff member individually for all their hard work.
