A Jefferson teen received a deferred judgement and was placed on probation following a incident that was waived from juvenile to district court.
According to court documents, 18-year-old Nicholas Weber pled guilty to two aggravated misdemeanors for third degree burglary charges. Court documents show that he received a deferred judgement on each count by District Court Judge Joseph McCarville. Weber will be placed on two years of probation with the Department of Correctional Services, pay civil penalties, court appointed attorney fees, court costs, surcharges and victim restitution.
The judgement stems from two separate incidents in Jefferson from this past February. Greene County Attorney Nic Martino says Weber originally faced ten charges, ranging from felonies for burglary to misdemeanors for theft. Weber had gone into several vehicles on February 9th and 24th and took several items. Jefferson Police Officers found footprints that matched the size, shape and trend design of Weber’s shoes to link him to the crimes.
Martino says Weber was originally charged in juvenile court, but because he was close to his 18th birthday, the case was allowed to be waived to district court to be tried as an adult.
