Panora emergency crews responded quickly to a small fire at a local business Friday morning.

The Panora Fire Department, Panora Emergency Medical Services and the Panora Police Department responded to the call of smoke coming out of Hometown Foods in Panora at 8:39am. When crews arrived on scene, smoke was seen coming out of an air duct in the deli. Officials evacuated the store as a safety precaution. Fire officials told Raccoon Valley Radio a motor caught fire from a rooftop heating and cooling unit.

Fire crews were able to put out the small fire quickly. No one was hurt in the incident and minimal damage was done. Hometown Foods officials said the deli department will be closed for the remainder of the day, but the rest of the store will stay open.
