The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with an update on the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance, provided by Executive Director Linda Wunsch. She gave a brief overview of the Alliance’s work, including how the partnership between them and the County has gone over the last 30 years. Following that, the Board set the time and date to receive and open bids for two big County projects. Bids for the courthouse renovation will be opened on December 4th at 4 p.m., while those for the Auditor’s Office parking lot are set for December 5th at 10 a.m. Public hearings to award bids for the projects will be held the week after.
At 10 a.m., the Board held a public hearing to discuss the vacation of a portion of I Court, which is the entryway to the Tyson Foods plant in Perry. A Tyson representative was on hand to answer questions. Additionally, representatives from Alliant Energy and Peters Service Center, which both own property adjacent to the road, were in attendance to give their consent to the vacation. Hearing no opposition, the Board approved the request. Other items approved included tax credit applications for disabled veteran homestead, family farm, homestead military, and agricultural land, as well as a resolution on utility valuations.
The Board also held a closed session to discuss purchase of particular real estate, and finished the meeting with an exempt session to conduct negotiations strategy.
