acgcThe ACGC girls basketball team got their season off to their best start in program history with a season-opening victory over the Audubon Wheelers last Monday. Head coach Dan Baker is hoping those continue as the season progresses.

Baker described what he told the girls in the locker room following the 40-31 victory in Guthrie Center. “I went in (to the locker room) and wrote a big word on the board and it was nothing but ‘Wow’ and ‘1-0’. It’s been a long time since ACGC’s been able to say that.”

Baker believes the Chargers have the potential this year to compete in the West Central Activities Conference and achieve at least a 500 record. The girls will look to start off that conference campaign on a good note when they host the Madrid Tigers on Friday night. To hear the full postgame comments from Baker, listen to tonight’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page, beginning at 6pm on True Country, K107.9.
