Dallas Supervisors 11-20

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The Board heard the latest on the progress of the law enforcement center project from the Samuels Group. A representative of the construction manager said the recent cold snap wreaked havoc on the contractors, delaying the project once again. In spite of that, he said construction is proceeding relatively well, and each section except the jail pod has been enclosed. The Board then approved the 10th pay application, which included eight different contractors for a total of $602,492.71.

At 9:45 a.m. there was a public hearing for the first reading to re-codify the County’s code of ordinances. Hearing no objections, the Board approved the first reading and set the second reading for December 11th at 10:30 a.m. They also set a public hearing for 10 a.m. that same day, during which they will award the bid and contract for the courthouse renovation project. Other items approved included an amended general election canvass that made one correction from the original, and an amended 28E agreement with the City of Dallas Center for sewer services.

Supervisor Mark Hanson then gave an update on the North Raccoon River Watershed Management Coalition, saying they have public informational meetings on Monday and Wednesday of next week. Finally, the Board discussed but took no action in a Human Resources Department workshop regarding a restructuring request submitted by the Treasurer’s Office. The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss purchase of particular real estate.
