It was a cold night, but over 100 people attended the annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Jefferson.
Attendees enjoyed crafts and holiday stories at the Jefferson Public Library before venturing over to the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center. There everyone got to see Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in style in a limoscene and a police escort. Santa then lit the Christmas tree near the Welcome Center. Families could then go inside the Greene County Courthouse to hear more holiday stories read by the Friends of the Jefferson Library. They also went to the top of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower where kids told Santa their wish lists.

The event was sponsored by Jefferson Matters: Main Street, Friends of the Jefferson Library, Bell Tower Community Foundation and Greene County Chamber and Tourism. For more pictures and a video of the event, check out Raccoon Valley Radio’s Facebook page.
