The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning for their final regular session of 2018.
The meeting started with a presentation by the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce regarding their “Kinnick to Raccoon” trail project. Representatives of the Adel Trail Committee presented the project to the Board and asked them to consider granting them $10,000 to be used for the electrical systems. No action was taken, but the Supervisors said they would consider the request. The Board then canvassed the recent special election for the City of Woodward, where they elected a new Mayor and City Council member. Auditor Julia Helm said they had no absentee or provisional ballots, so the election results were unchanged from last Tuesday. The Board approved the canvass, officially making Todd Folkerts Mayor of Woodward, and placing Kelly Kirts on the City Council.
Other items approved included: the purchase of four tandem axle trucks and a tile line jetter for the Secondary Roads Department; an administration agreement with AECOM for the Auditor’s Office parking lot reconstruction project; a request by MidAmerican Energy to withdraw land from an agricultural area; and Board appointments of township clerks and trustees, as well as members of the Board of Health, Conservation Board, and Board of Adjustment. The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss purchase of particular real estate, followed by an exempt session to conduct negotiations strategy.
The Board of Supervisors will not convene next week due to Christmas, and their next meeting will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
