Tomorrow is Christmas day, when presents will be exchanged across Guthrie County and beyond. Following the victories over the Interstate-35 Roadrunners on Friday, both girls and boys head coaches described what they would give their teams this holiday season.
For Dan Baker, his gift is all about sharing the basketball. “Team play. Same thing that got us through tonight. Just the fact that we just play better as a team. I think we enjoyed playing with each other tonight more than we have all year.”
Boys head coach Lance Kading took a little different approach when deciding what he would like to give his team. “A little bit of nastiness when it comes to rebounding for the second half of the season. We do a decent job but we just got to get after it more. Need more guys putting body on people and going and getting the ball and not being afraid of a little contact.”
Last year at this time the Chargers were a combined 3-15. This year the combined record sits at 10-9. The ACGC girls in particular will get a few more gifts come 2019 as freshman Chloe Largent, junior Taylor Lemke, and senior Lauryn Embleton are all expected to be cleared for play in the new year. The next game on the schedule for both teams is a conference matchup with Woodward-Granger on Friday, January 4th in Guthrie Center.
