It was an active first four weeks of the high school basketball season for the Greene County High School teams. They’re on break now, and when they return, it’s a girl/boy doubleheader at Saydel High School in Des Moines, followed by another whole week off. Then, it gets busy with girls and boys games Jan. 11, 14, and 15, plus a boys’ game on Jan. 19.
The Rams are 0-9 in girls’ basketball and 4-6 on the boys’ side. The Greene County girls are on a 17 game losing streak dating back to last season, while the boy have dropped a modest three games in a row. The Saydel teams present a realistic chance for the Rams to get 2019 off on a winning note as the Eagles are 0-10 in girls’ basketball, and the Saydel boys have two wins, both over Class 1A teams with losing records.
Greene County basketball can be heard all season long on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
