Perry City Council 8-6

As 2018 draws to a close, the City of Perry has had a chance to reflect on what they felt was a very successful year.

At the final Perry City Council meeting of the year, Mayor John Andorf took some time to go over the successes from 2018. Some things he highlighted included: the final two sculpture installations along Willis Avenue, bringing even more public art to the City; Perry’s redesignation as an “Iowa Great Place,” which opens up several grant opportunities; an assortment of projects, such as the Willis Avenue Bridge replacement; annual events like Art on the Prairie, the BRR Ride, and Fourth of July celebration, which were bigger than ever; and a multitude of ribbon cuttings to welcome new businesses to town.

For Andorf, 2018 was also his first year as Perry’s Mayor, and he said thanks to the help he received from everyone involved with the City, it was a successful start for him in the office. “It’s been great being Mayor. I want to thank the people for their support and their hard work. You know, without everybody’s hard work — the City’s, the different civic groups, businesses, economic development groups — things wouldn’t happen like they have. So I want to thank everybody for their support, and (I) look forward to things happening in 2019 and beyond.”
