The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department was recently recognized for their work on a road reconstruction project.
County Engineer Al Miller says the Iowa Asphalt Paving Association gave his department a design award for the resurfacing project on County Road F-25. The award focused on the County’s use of a design called “perpetual pavement,” which has a flexible lower layer of asphalt which makes for a quicker and more cost-effective replacement process. Miller adds, this is the fourth straight year his department has been recognized by the Iowa Asphalt Paving Association, and he believes they could have also been awarded for the Maffitt Lake Road project if it were long enough. That project came up a few feet short, however, so the Dallas County Roads Department is content with the recognition they received.
