A pair of West Central Valley senior wrestlers started the 2019 tournament slate with top honors. Cole Sackett (152) and Carson Wadle (182) both represented the Wildcats atop the podium in Saturday’s Crusader Invitational hosted by Coon Rapids-Bayard Community Schools. Sackett’s weekend featured two second period pinfall victories and a decision win in the finals. After a first-round bye, Wadle claimed first place with a pair of wins by fall. Multiple Wildcat wrestlers finished runner-up in the weight division including Justin Garcia (126), Cael Carl (132), and Zac Custard (220). West Central Valley finished second in the team standings with 127 points. South Central Calhoun is the 2019 Crusader Invitational team champion with 164 points. The Wildcat varsity wrestlers resume their season Thursday, traveling to Ogden for a quadrangular event against the Bulldogs, Clarinda Academy, and Coon Rapids-Bayard.
