The Greene County boys’ basketball team is off tonight, but the Rams have a game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. tomorrow vs. Class 3A Dallas Center-Grimes in Gilbert as part of a four-game high school showcase. Neither the Rams or Mustangs have racked up as many wins as they would have liked. Greene County, a 2A program from the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, is 5-9 overall and they’ve dropped six of their last seven games. DC-G broke a three-game skid on Tuesday night when the Mustangs topped ADM 43-42. DC-G is scheduled to play tonight vs. winless Newton, weather permitting.

Even though Coach Chris Nelson’s team is four games below the .500 mark, they’ve racked up some impressive single game scoring numbers. The Rams have had 16 individual scoring performances this season of at least 20 points, and another four times one player has scored 30 or more. Senior Trey Hinote and junior Carter Morton are the two top scorers on the team as well as the most likely players to put big scoring numbers on the board.

A big change for the Rams tomorrow will be the presence of a true “big man” on the court. Tyler Miller, a 6′ 9″ junior is eligible to play varsity basketball for the first time because of sitting out for the transfer rule after transferring from Paton-Churdan.

Air time is approximately 3 p.m. Saturday for Greene County and DC-G from Gilbert on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
