Blowing snowWith several inches of snowfall expected over the next couple of days across our listening area, it’s a good time to review some winter safety driving tips.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams offers these reminders when driving in blowing snow and “white out” conditions. “Make sure your headlights are on low-beam and turn your four-way flashers on if it’s hard to see and then just drive at safe speeds due to the conditions. The low-beams just light up less of the snowflakes, which reflect light back at you and makes it harder to see. Especially when you have the brights on because you’re lighting up a whole bunch more of the snow that’s blowing which again reflects back at you.”

Williams adds that bridges are areas to be mindful of being ice-covered and be aware of your surroundings and other vehicles during any snow event.
