The Greene County Libraries Association recently gave their annual report for 2018.

Last year’s summer reading program, “Libraries Rock” saw one of the best years yet for all of the libraries. The total amount of minutes read were 43,730. As for another major event that all of the libraries participate in with Toddler Fest which was held in April, there were 154 two to five-year-olds that attended. There were over 20 free stations where kids learned about different areas in healthcare, law enforcement, or veterinary medicine, and another 130 adults as well as 94 volunteers participated.

Other events that happened in 2018 included two free teen movies, the first-ever GC Mini-Con where 27 people attended, and the Greene County Reads program where the author of the book “All the Ugly and Wonderful Things” attended each book discussion. The Churdan Library is planning a grand re-opening of their library at the end of February with the expansion project almost complete. And there has been two new library directors that have been hired within the last six months at the Rippey and Scranton libraries.
