A state tournament tuneup for the Panorama Panthers varsity wrestling team is lost due to weather. The Panthers are annual competitors in the two day John J Harris Wrestling tournament in Corning. The event squandered it’s opening day of competition due to the winter storm warning for most of Iowa, and Panorama decided to stay in Guthrie County rather than making the trip to compete for one day. Panorama did compete Thursday night in a quadrangular dual event at Martensdale St Mary’s High School. Panorama’s only dual win came against Southeast Warren, 36-30. The Panthers suffered losses to Van Meter/Earlham, 55-12, and Interstate 35, 55-24. Sophomore Wyatt Appleseth (145) left the event as the only Panorama wrestler with an undefeated evening. He tallied two decision wins and one by fall. The Panorama Panthers varsity wrestling team resumes their dual season Thursday in a road triangular versus Lynnville-Sully and Pleasantville. First matches start at 6 p.m. from Lynnville-Sully High School.
