The snowfall has ceased for now across the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, but we are now facing bitterly cold temperatures and blowing snow conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties until 6pm today. There is also a wind chill advisory that will then take over from 6pm tonight through 9am tomorrow for our three counties. Hazards with the winter weather advisory is blowing snow which will cause low visibility on the roadways and possible white out conditions, especially in rural open areas. Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the day reaching as low as 25 degrees below zero.

Motorists are urged to use caution on the roadways and be aware of white out conditions and possible areas of black ice. Wind gusts could be as high as 40-miles-per-hour today. The one to count on for winter weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
