One of the first Democrats to announce his candidacy for president in the 2020 election, US Congressman John Delaney from Maryland, recently visited a Jefferson-based business as part of his campaign stops in Iowa.

Delaney toured American Athletic Incorporated/Spaulding Thursday. He has made several trips to Jefferson since he announced his candidacy for president and now that the Democratic field is starting to pickup with more individuals declaring their candidacy, Delaney says it’s his message that he believes will continue to separate him from the rest of the candidates before we get to next year’s Iowa caucus and the primary election.

“I want to bring the country together, I want to solve problems, I want to roll up my sleeve and work with people to get things done. I think the time for talk is over. It’s now time for action (and) to make progress on healthcare, lowering drug prices, building infrastructure, helping people get better jobs, doubling something called the ‘Earned Income Tax Credit’ which is a tax credit that goes right into the pocket of hard working Americans. Those are the things which by the way enjoy bipartisan support that I want to be the president that gets those things done.”

Delaney mentioned he has six offices now opened in Iowa as part of his campaign. He opened two earlier this week including one in Council Bluffs and another in Sioux City. Some of the other stops Delaney made on Thursday were in Denison, Webster City and Carroll.
