Students from all three school districts in Guthrie County will be competing at the State Large Group Speech Contest tomorrow, after just attending the rescheduled District Contest in Perry last weekend.
Recent school cancellations and other delays have brought on more pressure for local speech teams to be prepared for State, and has been a good thing according to the Panorama Speech Team. Seven out of the 10 entries Panorama sent to District received a Division I rating and are competing tomorrow. Senior Taylor Raibikis shares how she feels after competing at District, “It’s always good because District’s is like ‘Okay this is our first round of competitions,’ and usually like with both of my groups we got ones and it went over very well. So then we can see what we did well at the performance and what we can improve on and then we have time to add on those extra touches of what we can make better.”
Raibikis says the short timeframe between District and State has kept the team on their toes, and they are confident for their performance at Valley High School in West Des Moines.
