DOT plow truck on Highway 4

A winter weather advisory remains in effect through much of the day today for the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

The National Weather Service has Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties under a winter weather advisory until 9pm today. Snow and blowing snow will be the main threat for today, with wind gusts as high as 40-miles-per-hour. Blowing snow could cause white out conditions. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, most of the roads in Greene County are partially covered with snow, while most of the roads in Dallas and Guthrie counties are completed covered. There is also a tow ban in both Dallas and Guthrie counties until further notice.

The National Weather Service is reporting between three to four inches of snowfall for Jefferson, Perry and Guthrie Center. The one to count on for cancellation and postponement information during the winter season is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
