The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting began with approval of the canvass of last week’s special election for the Perry School District bond referendum. Auditor Julia Helm said the final vote tallies were 656 yes, and 79 no, an 89.25% approval. The Board then approved the County budget for publication, as well as setting a public hearing to present the budget for Tuesday, March 5th at 7 p.m. They also set a public hearing for February 26th at 9:30 a.m. to consider bids, plans and specifications, and form of contract for the Secondary Roads Department’s central maintenance facility storage building. Additionally, the Supervisors approved a federal aid agreement for a box beam bridge project on 170th Street, as well as amending the five-year road construction program to reflect the change in the funding source.

The Board also approved additional compensation for township clerks and trustees, and had discussion but no action regarding the updated County Hazard Mitigation Plan. Finally, the Supervisors tabled setting a public hearing for the designation of the 2019 Dallas County Economic Development Urban Renewal Area and Urban Renewal Plan, until they get a cleaner document from the attorneys representing Tyson Foods. The meeting concluded with discussion on the vacant Human Resources Department Director position (with the County conducting interviews with three finalists this week). Operations Director Rob Tietz said they will be interviewing three finalists on Thursday, after which time they will officially close the window for other applicants. The candidates may also have interviews with the Board following next Tuesday’s regular meeting.
