A Jefferson man was recently sentenced in Greene County District Court for a July 2018 incident.
According to court documents, 51-year-old Robert Alan Fry pled guilty to a serious misdemeanor for interference with official acts, an amended charge of a simple misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, and a probation violation for a previous contempt charge. As per his plea agreement, Fry was ordered to serve 253 days in the Greene County Jail for the probation violation charge, with credit for time already served, another ten days in jail for the serious misdemeanor and two days in jail for the simple misdemeanor. All jail sentences are to run concurrently. The State agreed to dismiss the felony charge of criminal mischief.
The charges stem from a July 28, 2018 incident. Jefferson Police Officers were notified of drug charges from Des Moines on Fry on July 27th. When officers went to Fry’s home, Fry left through his back door. An officer stayed near the home until Fry came back and then tried to flee again on a motorcycle and officers eventually apprehended him.
Fry was also ordered to pay victim restitution, court costs and court appointed attorney fees.
