The toughest test of the season awaits the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (15-8 overall) today in eastern Iowa. A pair of Tigers tangle this evening when ADM pays a visit to the top seed in the Class 4A Region 8 bracket this evening in No. 3 Grinnell (17-2 overall). The Grinnell Tigers girls basketball program has made the state tournament the previous two seasons, making it all the way to last year’s Class 4A State Championship game. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM girls basketball coach Jacob Cleveland after Wednesday win against Carlisle and said Grinnell predicates their offense around their drive and dish. “They run a weave (offense), they drive and kick,” Cleveland said, “They do everything pretty well, and that’s why they are where they’re at.”
Grinnell’s two losses this season came against a pair of highly ranked Class 3A teams in a week timeframe. The Tigers lost to No. 1 North Polk, 75-74, in Alleman on January 7 and No. 3 Center Point-Urbana, 61-57, at home on January 12. ADM earned this chance to play Grinnell with a 60-48 victory Wednesday night against the Carlisle Wildcats (10-11) in Adel. The start time of tonight’s game is pushed up to 6 p.m. due to forecasted winter weather late this evening. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play by play coverage of the game on True Country K 107.9 FM, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app with pregame comments at 5:30 p.m.
