A wintry mix of drizzle, sleet and snow is predicted this weekend, which can mean impaired conditions for motorists.

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright advises that drivers have their vehicles regularly maintained with all fluids in good supply. He says it’s especially important to have extra windshield wiper fluid for when you approach plow trucks on the road, “Yeah, usually you need to stay back because not only are they putting sand out of the back of their trucks but just for reasons of safety those big trucks can throw up a lot of slush and throw up a lot of road grime and it gets on your windshield and sometimes it makes it really difficult to see.”

Arganbright says that motorists should stay home during a winter storm, but adds if they have to travel to carry an emergency supply kit. Those include jumper cables, sand, a flashlight, warm clothes, blankets, bottled water, and nonperishable snacks.
