The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department Board met earlier this week.

The Board approved a $7,165 bid from Durlam Electric to replace the lights at the Greene County Community Center with LED lights. In addition, there would be an $1,890 rebate and the city’s budget would need to be amended to get the work done by March 31st to capture the rebate.

The Board also approved an $18,120 bid from Johnson Controls to replace the Simplex Fire Alarm System for the community center. It would be a similar system to the current one that is past its life expectancy. Since the current system is an older model, and replacement parts do not exist, therefore the Board felt an upgrade was necessary.

They also approved job descriptions for the pool manager and assistant manager, but tabled additional discussions on other job descriptions, pending a facilitated discussion with Iowa State University Community Development Program Specialist Abbie Gaffey. Additionally, the Board tabled their decision on upgrading the computer system at the community center and discussion on facility cleaning to a future meeting pending further information needed.
