Additional information has been released regarding a traffic crash that happened on Highway 30 near Jefferson on February 11th.

According to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2007 Chevrolet HHR driven by 20-year-old Danielle Schulte of Carroll was traveling west on the highway, near M Avenue, around 3:30pm. Schulte’s vehicle was slowing down, due to vehicles in front of her moving at a slower speed. She then lost control of her vehicle as it spun into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2016 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer that was owned by Drees Transport Company and driven by 55-year-old Christopher Muller of Carroll.

The HHR ended up in the south ditch, while the semi went through the south ditch and came to a rest in a field. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident and both were taken to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services with minor to serious injuries. The HHR was considered to be a total loss, while the semi sustained disabling damage.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office, the Jefferson Police and Fire departments, the Iowa Department of Transportation Traffic Enforcement Division and Greene County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene. Schulte was cited for failure to maintain control.
