Track & field practices have begun at Greene County High School. Athletes have been indoors due to the cold, snow, and ice, but boys’ head coach Chad Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio they’ve been able to get some workouts in, especially for sprinters. “We’re measuring their dashes, but also their flys. The last part of their sprint where they’re going their fastest max speed will be timed as well. We use fully automatic timing, taking the max speed, put it through a mathematical formula, and it gives the athlete how fast their max is in miles per hour (MPH). It’s more easily relatable to the athletes because they’re used to MPH when driving.”

The Rams have their first indoor meets of the season next week inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for the Dickinson Relays. Girls compete on Monday, March 4 with the boys on Tuesday, March 5. Greene County plans on taking a partial squad each day.
