Friday, March 1st

12:05am: Nicki Johnson spoke with an officer about removing an unwanted male from 500 East Clark Street. Johnson was advised that since the male has lived there with her for several months, she must complete an Eviction on the subject.

9:12am: Kenneth Arbuckle complained of a neighbor pushing snow upon his property at 202 South High Street. The officer spoke to the neighbor, who advised it will not happen again.

11:55am: An officer assisted the Juvenile Court Officer in gathering a Urine Analysis Collection Kit from a juvenile at the courthouse.

2:52pm: Gertrude Eggers reported a Backing Accident in her driveway at 310 East Vest Street. When the officer arrived, one vehicle had left. Eggers advised she did not wish to have a report completed.

4:41pm: An officer dealt with two neighbors in the alley of the 400 Block of North Vine Street, who were having a property line dispute. The matter was civil in nature.

7:16pm: James Burton reported suspicious activity in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street.

7:35pm: Melissa Smith advised her husband was suicidal and had a weapon. He had left their residence and was now sending her text messages threatening his life. At about 2025 hrs, the officer was advised that Smith was being chased in her vehicle in Jefferson by her husband. The officer made contact with the two vehicles at Chestnut and Monroe Streets. The officer ordered Smith out of his vehicle, but he took off. The officer pursued Smith the short distance to his residence at 304 East Lincoln Way Street. Smith ignored the officer’s lights and sirens and would not stop his vehicle until he reached home. Smith ignored the officer’s commands to stop and show his hands and ran inside his residence. Jefferson officers were assisted by Greene and Boone County Sheriff’s Office during the one-hour standoff with Smith. At about 2140 hrs, Officers made entry into the residence and took Smith into custody without further issue. Smith was taken to ER and medically cleared by a doctor before being placed in the Greene County Jail. Branden Gerrick Smith, 42 of Jefferson was charged with, “Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or Subsequent Offense – D Felony, Eluding Officers – Serious, Possession of Firearm by Felon – D Felony, Interference with Official Acts – Simple, and Reckless Driving – Simple.”

Saturday, March 2nd

1:44pm: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulting in Ryan Pautsch of Denver, IA being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

11:26pm: An officer located an Open Business Door at 204 North Grimmell Road.

11:51pm: Shon Blake reported some harassing posts on the internet.

Sunday, March 3rd

2:08am: Kay Adams reported hearing a loud noise in the alley of the 100 Block of East State Street. The officer checked the area and found nothing out of the ordinary.

6:53am: Officers were assisted by deputies in the execution of a Narcotics Search Warrant at 300 East State Street. Items of narcotics and paraphernalia were seized for testing from the residence. Charges are pending lab testing of the seized items.

9:26am: The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Jefferson officers in looking for a stolen vehicle from Coon Rapids. The vehicle was not located in Jefferson.

1:18pm: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulting in Katie Landis of Winterset being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

1:50pm: A Traffic Stop was performed at Elm and Russell Streets resulting in Toni Wetrich of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

4:22pm: A Traffic Stop was performed at Elms and Adams Streets resulting in Kasia Johnson of Ames being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

7:33pm: Sparky’s One Stop reported a Check Forgery Attempt at 606 Hwy. 30 East. A female and male attempted to purchase items by writing a check of a deceased female’s checking account. The officer is investigating.

11:33pm: An officer assisted a female who had locked herself out of her residence in the 100 Block of West Madison Street.
