Time is running out to purchase your ticket for the second annual fundraiser for the Bringing Opportunity and Optimism to Students and Teachers (BOOST) of the Greene County School District.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 30th at the Greene Room events center at Wild Rose in Jefferson. The inaugural year raised over $54,000, which helped to not only fund 42 projects throughout the school district, but also fulfilled other classroom needs and supplement other materials for teachers to enhance their students’ learning experience. BOOST member Matt Wetrich says they are hoping to raise a larger amount this year.
“It just shows what kind of support the community has for teachers and educators and we are very proud about that. But yeah we would love to see that ($54,000) and maybe even a little bit more this year.”
A social time starts at 5pm, with the meal to be served around 6:30. The auction and program will follow the meal. One area that BOOST member Chris Deal hopes to expand is their mobile silent auction feature to encourage even more participation.
“We would love to have a few more people who aren’t actually at the event able to get on and bid. We had a few remote bidders last year. But we see a lot of opportunity with grandparents who might not live in the community but would like to support their grandchildren’s school district. There’s people who might not be back in town or might be on vacation. There are plenty of ways for people to get involved, even if they can’t be there at the event.”
Tickets are $30 per person and the deadline to purchase a ticket is March 8th. To purchase a ticket, click the link below. To hear more about the fundraiser from Wetrich and Deal, listen to tomorrow’s Community State Bank in Paton Let’s Talk Greene County program.
