Bagley residents have the opportunity to receive free bottled water tomorrow.
Hy-Vee Communications Vice President Tina Potthoff announces that Hy-Vee will be providing water to all Bagley residents Thursday from 7-10 a.m. outside the Bagley Public Library located, at 117 Main Street. Each resident will receive three 1 gallon jugs as well as two 24-pack cases of water. This offering comes after the Iowa Department of Natural Resources gave a public notice last week of Bagley’s water supply testing at high levels of manganese. The DNR suggests consumers of the City’s water supply use bottled water or an alternative source of water for making formula for infants, drinking, and food preparation. City officials say the water can still be used for bathing, brushing teeth, and washing clothes and dishes. Hy-Vee’s total donation will be 16,128 bottles of water and 1,008 gallons of water to help the Bagley community.
The DNR has approved a preliminary engineering report to build a new water treatment plant. The City is working with JEO Consulting and Region XII Council of Governments to secure funding to build the facility. For any health concerns, residents should consult their medical provider.
